Blackstone Backs Neysa with $1.2B as India Builds Domestic AI Infrastructure

Share

Neysa, India’s GPU-first AI infrastructure startup, has secured up to $1.2 billion in funding, with Blackstone taking a majority stake. The round also includes participation from Teachers’ Venture Growth, TVS Capital Funds, 360 ONE Asset, and Nexus Venture Partners.

Led by CEO Sharad Sanghi alongside Ganesh Mani, the investment will scale Neysa’s GPU capacity from 1,200 to 20,000+ units, while expanding R&D and strengthening orchestration, observability, and security capabilities. The infrastructure will serve enterprises, government agencies, and AI research labs amid surging compute demand.

Strategically, the move signals growing confidence in India’s ability to build sovereign AI compute capacity. As global AI innovation becomes increasingly tied to infrastructure control, domestic GPU ecosystems could reduce dependency on overseas hyperscalers while accelerating local model development.

Overall, this funding marks a pivotal step toward positioning India not just as an AI talent hub but as a full-stack AI innovation powerhouse.
