PayU has partnered with CoRover.ai to integrate BharatGPT, enabling voice-first UPI transactions across more than 100 Indian languages. The initiative aims to simplify digital payments by allowing users to complete transactions through voice commands instead of traditional app interfaces.
Built on CoRover’s BharatGPT, the system is designed to make payments more accessible for users who may be more comfortable interacting in their native language. By supporting a wide range of Indian languages, the platform could help bring digital payments to millions of users who face barriers with English-based or text-heavy interfaces.
Early implementations include platforms such as Afterlife and Kanhaji.ai. According to Manas Mishra and Ankush Sabharwal, the technology is expected to expand into sectors like e-commerce, travel, OTT services, and banking as voice-based interfaces gain wider adoption.
The integration also aligns with broader innovations in India’s digital payments ecosystem, including developments such as UPI Circle and UPI Reserve Pay, which are designed to expand the flexibility and accessibility of UPI transactions.
As digital payments continue to evolve, voice-first interfaces could play a major role in bridging the gap between technology and usability, particularly for users in regional and semi-urban markets.
Bottom line: By combining PayU’s payment infrastructure with BharatGPT’s multilingual AI capabilities, the partnership could help accelerate the adoption of voice-driven digital payments across India’s diverse linguistic landscape.
